Services

If you haven’t worked with an architect and don’t know what to expect, this page of my website is here to help (as am I).
This information guides you through every step of your project, from the first ideas to the final handover. Based on the trusted RIBA Plan of Work, my approach is thoughtfully structured to keep the process clear, collaborative, and efficient.

Stage 1: Preparation and Briefing

To ensure we’re on the same page, I will take the time to understand your unique vision, needs, and sustainability goals. This information is used to create a detailed project brief, budget, timeline, and any necessary site surveys or approvals.

Stage 3: Spatial Coordination

Next, I design and prepare the necessary documentation to support planning applications, liaising with local authorities to help move your project forward.

Stage 5: Construction

Part of my role is to oversee the whole project, including work on-site, keeping it on schedule and being mindful of the budget. I will be on hand to coordinate site visits, monitor progress, and support you and your builder/contractors.

Stage 2: Concept Design

Together, we explore ideas, develop initial designs, and integrate your feedback to create a concept that meets your aspirations. If needed, I can assist with pre-application documentation to help you start off smoothly with local authorities.

Stage 4: Technical Design

This is the stage where I prepare detailed technical drawings and specifications, coordinating with other professionals to ensure every detail is accounted for. I can also support you through the tendering process, helping you select the right builder for your project.

Stage 6: Handover

In the handover stage, I ensure you receive all the ‘as-built’ information and finalise the project to your satisfaction, gathering feedback and celebrating the completion of your vision. I am always available to offer extra support and guidance at any stage of your project. There is no such thing as a silly question.

‘We contacted Martin having seen his hand drawn sketch designs in the ‘Keep it Local’ magazine. On first impressions, Martin immediately had our trust, as he supported us through the whole process from our initial ideas, via planning to construction. Martin’s ideas, patience, and professional approach have been very much appreciated, and we would have no hesitation in recommending MPD Architect Ltd’
